How much does a smart WiFi thermostat for heated tile floors cost installed in Ottawa?

Smart WiFi thermostats for heated tile floors are a great upgrade, but that question sits outside my area of expertise — I focus specifically on tile installation, waterproofing, grout, and related tile work rather than thermostat pricing or electrical device installation.

What I can tell you is that the electrical side of any heated tile floor system in Ottawa requires an ESA-licensed electrician — that's Ontario law, not a suggestion. The ESA (Electrical Safety Authority) must inspect the electrical connections for in-floor radiant heat systems, and the thermostat wiring is part of that scope. For accurate pricing on the thermostat unit itself and its installation, you'd want to reach out to a licensed electrician who specializes in residential work.

For the tile installation side of a heated floor project — the uncoupling membrane (Schluter Ditra-Heat is the industry standard in Ottawa), the thinset, the tile itself, and the labour to install everything properly over the heating mat — that's very much my territory. Heated floor tile installation in Ottawa typically adds $10 to $20 per square foot on top of standard tile installation costs, and getting the substrate and membrane right is critical for both the longevity of the tile and the efficiency of the heating system.

If you're planning a heated tile floor project and want to connect with experienced tile installers in Ottawa, you're welcome to browse the Ottawa Construction Network directory at justynrookcontracting.com/directory — and your tile contractor can coordinate with your electrician to make sure the heating mat is properly embedded before the tile goes down.
